Medium To High Voltage Training

Our Medium Voltage Electrical Training and High Voltage Electrical Training establishes minimum standards to ensure that worker's health and safety are protected during high voltage electrical work and is based upon, but not limited to , OSHA 1910.269, 1910.132(D), 1910.137 standards.

 

Upon completion of this Medium to High Voltage training class students will be able to:

  • Identify medium to high voltage safety hazards.
  • Deifine the approach boundaries for medium and high voltages.
  • Demonstrate the skills and techniques to distinguish live parts from other parts.
  • Determine the nominal voltages of these live parts.
  • How to select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each hazard category.
  • How to demonstrate safe electrical work practices working on or near energized equipment.
  • How to properly select and use of rated test instruments and equipment.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of inslulating and shielding materials for employee protection.
  • Medium To High Voltage Training Course Agenda

  • Understand how to use special tools and work procedures for greater than 600 volts.
  • Understand the clearance, barrier and barricading requirements for high voltage equipment.
  • Understand special hazards associated with high voltage equipment.
  • Understand approach boundaries (arc flash and shock).
  • Understand the definition and importance of each hazard risk category.
  • Selection and maintenance of proper PPE.
  • Importance of applying grounding clusters (grounding sets).
  • Understand special procedures and tools for extracting personnel from energized circuits.
  • Maintenance and inspection of voltage-rated gloves
  • How to safety perform basic power qualitty measurements.
  • All students will receive the following with completion of this Training course:
